Assistant Professor of Theology (Tenure Track)

School of Catholic Studies - Wichita, KS - Full Time

   The School of Catholic Studies at Newman University invites applications for a full-time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Theology, beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will advance the university’s Catholic mission and identity through teaching, scholarship, service, and by promoting interdisciplinary dialogue and an impartial pursuit of truth.

Areas of Competence Include:  Moral Theology, Systematic Theology, Sacramental Theology
Preferred Specialization: Moral Theology (other areas considered)

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Theology from an accredited institution
  • Willingness to seek and maintain the mandatum, in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae
  • 1–3 years of undergraduate teaching experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
  • Preferred: More than 3 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level

Responsibilities
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Catholic theology
  • Teaching within Newman’s general education curriculum
  • A standard teaching load of 24 undergraduate credit hours (or 18 graduate hours) per academic year, or an equivalent combination
  • Advising and mentoring students
  • Participating in committee service and broader university life
  • Contributing to scholarly research and publication
