Custodial Services Supervisor
Position is full time (40hrs) and works 12 months per year. Paid time off and benefits starting after first 30 days. Approximately 20 days off with pay for observed holidays/breaks with an additional 2 weeks of vacation time accrued per year. Tuition waiver for employee, spouse and eligible dependents after one year of employment.
Occupational Summary:
The Custodial Services Supervisor is a working manager and will be responsible for planning, organizing, and developing the operation of the housekeeping department and its activities. This position reports to the CIO & Operations Manager and works with a wide range of constituents on campus. This position requires the use of computers and mobile devices. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in this area and be able to assist their staff in these areas. This position is normally assigned to work an eight-hour shift Monday through Friday but must be flexible to work evenings, with occasional weekend work required.

Responsibilities:
- Direct the management of custodial services to maintain the highest possible standards and good public relations for residential and other campus buildings.
- Oversee and coordinate custodians, including hiring, performance evaluations, timecard review, and disciplinary actions.
- Prepare work schedules and maintain adequate staffing.
- Inspect cleanliness of facilities, take corrective action where necessary.
- Provide training and supportive leadership; a feeling of complete trust, security, and satisfaction through demonstrations of competence and willingness to serve.
- Maintain spaces in accordance with the facility standards of cleanliness and appearance; all equipment clean, labeled and kept in good repair.
- Develop a stable, competent workforce and encourage personal growth of all personnel through periodic evaluation and review.
- Control the costs within the department.
- Order supplies, check incoming orders, inventory supplies, and monitor supply usage for appropriateness; assist with restocking individual custodian cleaning closets across campus; make sure towels and such are laundered.
- Maintain records to include operations logs, custodian records, and MSDS sheets.
- Conduct weekly inspections and hold departmental meetings as needed.
- Help clean the buildings when extra help is needed or when there is an absence.
- Perform all other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position.
Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- An associate’s degree required.
- 10 years commercial housekeeping experience.
- 5 years floor machine experience.
- 3 to 5 years management experience.
- Computer and mobile device proficiency with experience using Microsoft office software.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others at all levels and be patient, dependable, flexible and cooperative.
- Full knowledge of pertinent codes, standards, and regulations and how to comply with said regulations.
- Must have detailed organizational and prioritizing skills with the ability to train, teach, demonstrate and follow-up on all assignments.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret and follow technical instructions and complete assignments timely, showing a sense of urgency.
- A reliable form of transportation to be at work on a timely basis.
- Employees are expected to dress properly and maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance.
- Proper workplace attitude, respect and demeanor toward others are to be displayed at all times.
- Be able to follow established safety rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements during Work Shift:
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 100 lbs. daily.
- Be able to lift and carry 10-20 lbs. frequently.
- Be able to walk and climb stairs frequently.
- Be able to carry supplies and equipment up and down stairs daily.
- Be able to bend, stoop or kneel repeatedly.
- Be able to reach overhead and maintain their balance daily.
