Student - Chemistry Lab Assistant

Division of Math and Science - Wichita, KS - Part Time

General Description:

The Chemistry department is looking for students to assist in the lab portion of Fall 2024 classes. Must have previously completed a Chemistry lab course.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Attend your assigned section and actively participate in the student learning process.
  2. Assist in the evaluation and assessment of lab reports as directed by the course instructor.
  3. Maintain confidentiality of all coursework and assignments, grades, and any material on any graded assignments throughout the course
  4. Aid the instructor during class, including supervising the lab, ensuring students perform activities correctly and helping to answer questions when possible
  5. Monitor and notify the instructor if supplies for future labs are low and need to be reordered
  6. Assist with lab prep and clean up
  7. Additional duties include cleaning and disinfecting the lab before and/or after labs

Position Requirements:

  1. Continued full-time student status (minimum of 12 credit hours)
  2. Successful completion of corresponding lab course with a grade of B or higher, preferably at Newman University
  3. Must be authorized to work in the United States

Number of positions available: 3

Rate of Pay: $8.25 per hour
