Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach (part-time)

Newman University is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach to support the development and success of our NCAA Division II women’s volleyball program. This position plays a vital role in coaching, recruiting, and mentoring student-athletes while promoting Newman’s Catholic mission and values.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coaching and managing all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division II women’s volleyball program, including practices, game strategies, and player development.
  • Support recruiting and retention of qualified student-athletes in compliance with NCAA regulations.
  • Instruct student-athletes on physical health, team concepts, and safety, while fostering academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with Athletic Performance coaches to implement conditioning programs.
  • Promote psychological, social, and mental skills for success on and off the court.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA Division II, MIAA Conference, and institutional rules.
  • Assist with scheduling, travel arrangements, and operational planning.
  • Participate in fundraising, community engagement, and promotional activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating ethical and professional conduct aligned with Newman’s mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; some college required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle check.
  • Collegiate playing experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals and ability to teach critical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with NCAA Division II rules and ability to pass annual recruiting certification.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
