Corporate and Foundation Relations Officer

Institutional Advancement - Wichita, KS - Full Time

Occupational Summary:
The Corporate and Foundation Relations Officer is an externally facing position that advances Newman’s health and vitality by identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding relationships with corporations and foundations. This highly collaborative position works routinely with the campus community to formulate and implement creative strategies that position Newman University to participate in cooperative programs and partnerships via external funding sources (locally, regionally, and nationally). Some travel is required. Expected Start Date: 15 January 2025.

Position is full time (40hrs) and works 12 months per year. Paid time off and benefits starting after first 30 days. Approximately 20 days off with pay for observed holidays/breaks with an additional 2 weeks of vacation time accrued per year. Tuition waiver for employee, spouse and eligible dependents after one year of employment.

Stewardship Statement:

This position is responsible for cultivating and maintaining the institution's Catholic identity and its mission to empower graduates to transform society. As a member of the Newman community, the staff member will join with the institution's sponsors, the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC Sisters), to witness God's love in Mission to empower others, foster oneness, celebrate life, form right relationships, and walk as compassionate companions. Additionally, this position contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other faiths, cultures, or backgrounds. 

Work Performed: 

  1. Develop, communicate, and execute an overall strategy for corporate and foundation support of Newman University.
  2. Collaborate with Advancement leadership to create a multi-year corporate engagement plan that encourages corporate members to support and invest in the growth of Newman University.
  3. Work with the VP of Institutional Advancement to prioritize fundraising projects and areas of initiative for the University.
  4. Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts from corporate and professional organizations and foundation prospects. Develop proposals for project/program support, endowment, sponsorship, general operating and capital solicitations.
  5. Maintain accurate records of contacts and continually assess the giving history and relationships for corporate and foundation donors.
  6. Clearly and persuasively communicate the value proposition of Newman’s mission to corporations and individuals in the corporate sector.
  7. Personally establish and maintain strong relationships with board members, council members, and leaders of key organizations to achieve short- and long-term fundraising goals while fostering individual connections and organizational alliances.
  8. Develop and manage timelines for various corporate and foundation development and fundraising activities to ensure effective execution of strategic plans.
  9. Complete all University-required trainings including Title IX and FERPA.
  10. Performs other job-related duties as necessary to support the mission of the University.

Requirements: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree required in marketing, fund development, public relations, education, or closely related business field.
  2. At least three years of experience in foundation/corporate/government fundraising.
  3. Possess a comprehensive understanding of the value of a private liberal arts education and the ability to effectively communicate that value.
  4. Demonstrated relationship-building skills with a proven track record of achieving revenue targets, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  5. Self-directed team player with experience working with senior-level executives, capable of maintaining a professional demeanor under pressure and upholding high ethical standards in fundraising.
  6. High energy, positive “can-do” attitude, flexibility, attention to detail and a high degree of initiative.
  7. Proven ability to think strategically, with a thorough understanding of strategic development and the capacity to implement plans at the tactical level.
  8. Must possess exceptional verbal communication skills, a demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively, and strong organizational and planning skills.
  9. Must be willing to undergo a background check and credit screening.
  10. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the University’s policy at all times. 
  11. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
