University Relations - Wichita, KS - Part Time

Occupational Summary:

This position collaborates with University Relations professional staff to identify content and design opportunities, execute projects assigned in a professional and timely manner and is responsible for meeting timelines. The student will contribute to the overall content creation for Newman University to strategically targeted audiences across multiple platforms, including print, web, social and digital. They will help promote the Newman University message, image and activities in a clear and concise manner to internal and external audiences of the institution.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Digital Content Specialist with messaging and engagement on all official Newman University social media platforms.
  2. Assist the Senior Graphic Designer with creative design projects.
  3. Research and create copy, photos, video, graphics for university content and storytelling consistent with the overall university marketing plan.
  4. Consistently review performance of work with the appropriate University Relations staff member and the Director of University Relations.
  5. Work with internal and external constituents as needed.

Position Requirements:

  1. Current full-time Newman University student pursing a degree in communications, journalism, digital design, sports media and promotion or related field. 
  2. Must be a self-motivated, detail oriented and able to multi-task.
  3. Must demonstrate strong clear concise writing and public speaking skills.
  4. Must be team-oriented, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to meet deadlines.
  5. Ability to create engaging content and/or perform basic design and/or photography and/or videography.
  6. Ability to work on both Mac and PC platforms.
  7. Complete University-required trainings.
  8. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Number of hours per week: 10-20

Hours: Variable, Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm with some evenings and weekends possible

Number of positions available: 2

Rate of Pay: $8.25 per hour
