Occupational Summary:
The responsibility of the Academic Intervention Coach is to offer in-person support to Newman students in the areas of time management, notetaking/note processing, study skills, and overall academic preparation.  The Academic Intervention Coach will report to the Director of Navigator who provides supervision, scheduling, training, and strategies for coaching.  The Academic Intervention Coach must commit to professional development for the entirety of the semester.

The Academic Intervention Coach should not only be proficient in subject area but also patient, empathetic with the ability to listen and strategize. A goal of many sessions will be to help a student bridge the gap between confusion and comprehension, moving toward practical and consistent application. Academic Intervention Coach will assist students in their development of foundational knowledge to build strong academic careers.

Subject Coach Qualifications:

  1. Knowledgeable in time management, notetaking/note processing, study skills.
  2. Must be recommended by a Newman faculty member.
  3. Must be reliable and possess a strong work ethic.
  4. Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Must have adequate computer skills.
  6. Must be currently enrolled as a full-time Newman University student.
  7. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Additional Information:
Academic Intervention Coach will make up to $13.00/hour and can work a maximum of 140 hours per semester (approximately 10 hours per week).
