Assistant Professor- Graduate Education
Occupational Summary
Newman University School of Education is searching for an outstanding educator for the Graduate Education Program. This is a ten-month position for the 2025-2026 academic year. The candidate hired into this open rank position will be expected to provide leadership for the ESOL graduate program and teach ESOL courses and core curriculum and instruction courses in other graduate education programs, such as Reading Specialist. Preference will be given to candidates who hold an ESOL endorsement and/or have a strong Science of Reading background.

This position is responsible to cultivate and maintain the institution’s Catholic identity and its mission to empower graduates to transform society. The faculty member is responsible to uphold this mission in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae, fostering an environment where Catholicism is present while encouraging an impartial search for truth across multiple disciplines engaged in interdisciplinary dialogue.
Work Performed:
- Teach a minimum of 18 Graduate Credit Hours per year.
- Develop, review, and enhance curriculum to align with accreditation standards and evidence-based practices.
- Lead and coordinate the ESOL cohort programs, maintaining communication with district leaders.
- Establish and maintain community and school partnerships to enhance program opportunities.
- Analyze program data and prepare reports for the Graduate Advisory Council and KSDE/CAEP accreditation.
- Advise and create plans of study for graduate students.
- Assist with recruitment, marketing, and outreach for all graduate education programs.
- Participate in university-wide committees as well as School of Education committees.
- Assist with coordination of continuing education workshops for teacher relicensure.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills/Training:
- Earned doctorate in education, or related field, from an accredited university.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Data analysis experience.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Successful experience as a PreK-12 teacher and leader.
- Effective higher education teaching experience including online.
- Evidence of scholarship.
- Ability to use and model technology as an instructional tool.
- Commitment to live the Newman University Mission and School of Education Conceptual Framework.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
1. Earned ESOL endorsement.
2. Earned Reading Specialist endorsement.
3. Experience with KSDE/CAEP Accreditation processes.
