Student - Vantage Editor
General Description:
The Vantage, Newman University’s student-run newspaper, is looking for a student to serve as editor. Editors are responsible for editing and laying out pages and communicating with staff writers about deadlines and copy editing work. Apply NOW to join our team!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Investigate and write weekly stories to supplement staff writer content
- Page layout
- Page editing and copy editing
- Design graphics and other page content as needed
- Communicate deadlines and copy editing notes to staff writers
Position Requirements:
- Continued full-time Newman student status (minimum of 12 credit hours)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Prior editing experience and knowledge of Adobe InDesign, preferred
- Experience reporting and writing news stories
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and communicate these to staff writers
Number of hours per week: 3-5 hours
Hours: Tuesday evenings, Wednesday afternoons and evenings
Rate of Pay: $8.25 per hour
