Director of Facilities
Newman University is seeking a hands‑on, service‑driven Director of Facilities to lead the care, maintenance, and long‑term stewardship of our campus. This role blends strategic oversight with active, on‑the‑ground work, ensuring our buildings, grounds, and infrastructure support a safe, welcoming, and mission‑centered environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead daily facilities operations and perform hands‑on maintenance when needed
- Oversee safety, compliance, and risk‑management practices
- Guide emergency preparedness and after‑hours response
- Manage capital projects, renovations, and long‑term planning
- Direct budgeting, purchasing, and resource management
- Supervise and mentor a dedicated facilities and grounds team
- Partner with campus departments to provide responsive, solutions‑focused service
What We're Looking For
- Progressive experience in facilities operations, maintenance, or related trades
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities
- Hands‑on technical skills (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or similar)
- Ability to manage vendors, budgets, and complex projects
- Commitment to supporting Newman’s Catholic mission and inclusive community
- Experience in a campus, multi-building, or hospitality environment
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in facilities management, construction management, engineering, business, or a related field.
