Student - Information Services Operator
General Description:
The Information Services Operator is the first person to represent Newman University by phone. This position assists in operating the switchboard and Information Services Desk at scheduled times, which includes routing phone calls, providing information services to our customers, and taking detailed information related to all support requests. This position will also support classroom technology needs.
Responsibilities:
- Operate switchboard and the Information Services phone, routing phone calls in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Operate support telephone console.
- Enter support requests into Newman University’s email support system.
- Check and support classroom technology, including smart rooms, as directed and coordinate with supervisor and/or CIO.
- Maintain a working knowledge of existing staff and faculty, departments, campus activities, and general Newman knowledge to answer a variety of questions that may arise during calls.
- Convey directions to callers for the many buildings on campus.
- Forward incoming faxes to the appropriate person/department.
- Complete University-required trainings, including FERPA and Title IX.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Admissions Office by performing all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be a current Newman University Student enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours)
- Strong oral communications skills
- Technological competency, prior experience with phone systems preferred
Hours: Ideal candidates can work from 5-6:30pm Monday - Thursday, with some additional lunch hours possible.
Pay: $8.25 per hour
