Occupational Summary:

This position works with faculty in preparing labs, including set-up and clean-up of lab activities. The role also serves as a resource to students utilizing the lab for practice of psychomotor skills.

Work Performed:

  1. Coordinate day-to-day activities and services of the nursing lab, including lab set up and clean up, management of lab equipment and supplies, tracking of supply use.
  2. Serve as a resource to students utilizing the lab for practice of psychomotor skills.
  3. Ensure the lab/classroom/storage is clean, safe, and organized; promotes safe lab practices.
  4. Report the need for repairs of lab equipment to faculty.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Student who has completed the first semester of the nursing program and is in good standing within the program.
  2. Physical requirements may include:
    1. Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds
    2. Subject to walking, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motions
    3. Dexterity to perform nursing skills and operate equipment, including a computer
  3. Recent clinical background with knowledge of:
    1. Medical skills, equipment, and technology used in nursing practice
    2. Lab equipment and supplies
    3. Safety standards and practices used in clinical and lab settings
  4. Proficiency using standard office software applications.
  5. Must be enrolled full time at Newman University (12 credit hours or more per semester).
  6. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
