The School of Healthcare Professions at Newman University invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Professor of Nursing, beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will support the university’s Catholic mission and identity through teaching, scholarship, service, and by fostering an environment of academic excellence, collaboration, and compassionate care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Master’s degree in Nursing required (or in progress)
  • Doctoral preparation preferred (DNP, DNAP, or Ph.D.)
  • Possess a current Kansas nursing license or multi-state license
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice experience
  • Experience in academic nursing education or staff development preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate nursing courses in classroom and clinical settings
  • Supervising and mentoring students in clinical environments
  • Contributing to curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Ensuring academic rigor aligned with accreditation and licensure standards
  • Participating in student advising and mentorship
  • Engaging in faculty governance, committees, and university service
  • Supporting program assessment and continuous improvement efforts
  • Participating in recruitment, admissions, and community partnership initiatives
  • Maintaining professional development and licensure requirements
  • Supporting the mission and Catholic identity of the university
