Student - Mail & Copy
General Description:
The Newman University Mail and Copy Department is looking for a student worker who is technologically savvy and can perform various duties within the designated area. The ideal student-worker should be responsible, detail oriented, trustworthy, diligent, and have great communication skills.
Main Duties:
- Serve as a receptionist for the mail room, greeting and directing visitors.
- Prepare packages for shipping, including weighing, calculating postage, and applying labels.
- Answer phones, direct calls, and take messages.
- Sort and distribute mail.
- Check in packages, send notifications.
- Dust and clean surfaces, floors, and machinery throughout mailroom and self-service area; shelve, restock, and organize supplies and retail items.
- Use various postal equipment, such as sorting machines and postage meters.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
- Complete university-required training.
- Assist with special projects.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be a current Newman University student enrolled full-time.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to concentrate while doing many tasks at once.
- Ability to learn basic operations of digital copiers, laminating equipment, mailing equipment and software, phone systems, Windows-based Computers, and other software programs as necessary.
- Ability to clear jams from copy machines, fill with paper and staples, and load toner.
- Ability to explain the services provided by the mailroom.
- Ability to complete assigned jobs.
- Ability to perform routine tasks.
- Ability to take directions from supervisors.
- Ability to lift and carry mail tubs, mail flats, and packages.
Number of hours per week: Approximately 10-20 hours per week
Hours: Monday-Friday 9am – 5pm (Flexible Shift)
Number of positions available: 1-2
Rate of Pay: $8.25 per hour
